Tullamore Phoenix was formed in 2009 by John Judge with a view to providing the people of the Midland’s with an American football team they could be proud of.
Success came quickly for Phoenix when they were crowned champions of the Irish American Football League DV8s in 2010. This form of the game, which features eight players per side, is used to develop players new to the game of American football in Ireland before moving up to the main IAFL championship.
In 2011 Phoenix secured their second consecutive national title, winning their first 5 games of the season scoring an average of 32 points a game and conceding an average of less than 4. Despite losing their final league game of 2011, it was still an important year in the development of the club.
Phoenix also established its first Flag Football team. Designed especially for under-18s, Flag Football teaches important footballing fundamentals to those not old enough to play first team football.
By working with the youth of the area, we hope to establish a production line of well-coached, disciplined and knowledgeable players who will, in turn, help Tullamore Phoenix create a footballing legacy the Midland’s can be proud of.
Youth Flag Football training takes place every Sunday from 10.00 – 11.30 on the grounds of Tullamore Rugby Club, Tullamore.
Senior training takes place at the same location every Sunday from 10.30 – 14.00.
If you are interested in trying out for either team please email tullamorephoenixafc[at]gmail[dot]com or check out the Tullamore Phoenix Facebook page.

Hi Rory,
We play in Tullamore Rugby Club on the Spollanstown Road in Tullamore. Our next home game isn’t until May 27, when we take on reigning Shamrock Bowl champions, the Dublin Rebels.
